COLUMBIA TAP
RAIL-TRAIL

A collaborative project in Houston aims to rejuvenate the Columbia Tap Rail-Trail, focusing on the surrounding communities: MacGregor, Third Ward, and East Downtown (EaDo). The identity system connects past and present, nature and city, and the neighborhoods.

Connectivity is the main focus of the Columbia Tap Trail proposal. The system presents three key components:

  • Connecting the past and the present: the Columbia Tap and the three super-neighborhoods have long histories which need to be told.
  • Connecting nature and urbanity: Houston is a large urban city, but the trail allows and oasis of nature.
  • Connecting communities: the Columbia Tap Trail forms a strong link between communities.

The system includes a gateway, kiosk, neighborhood signs, intersection signs, and historic signs, reinforcing the trail’s significance and fostering community unity.
